The same dual-ended geometry and the same brass pins and yoke as the jade roller, cut instead from natural rose quartz. The practical difference is the stone. Rose quartz is softer than nephrite on the mineral scale, which is why these are cut a little thicker through the stone, and it holds a cool that feels gentler and fades a touch faster.

Colour runs from near-white through to a clear blush pink, usually within a single piece, and the milky clouding and fine internal fractures are characteristic of the material rather than defects. If you want the coldest possible stone, choose jade; if you want the softer feel and the colour, this is the one.

How to use the roller

Identical technique to the jade roller, with one extra note that comes from quartz being the softer stone.

Oil or serum first
Apply your usual oil or serum and let it settle before the stone touches skin. Dry skin plus stone equals dragging, whichever stone it is.
Upward and outward, light pressure
Jaw to ear, cheek to temple, brow to hairline. Three to five passes per area. The weight of the stone is most of the pressure you need.
Small end under the eyes
Inner corner outward to the temple, three or four passes each side, staying on the bone rather than the lid.
Handle it as the more fragile stone
Rose quartz chips more readily than nephrite. Do not leave it on the edge of a basin, and keep it in a pouch rather than loose in a drawer with hard objects.

Can I chill it?: A refrigerator, yes. Not the freezer, and be particularly careful of temperature swings with quartz.
